Who are we?
SUNx Malta is a legacy to Maurice Strong, Climate & Sustainability activist half a century ago. It is an EU NGO, supported by Malta’s Ministry of Tourism, with Malta Tourism Authority, and is advancing a Climate Friendly Travel culture - based on application of SDG 2030 and Paris 1.5 by Tourism Companies, Communities and Consumers.
We are building a CFT Chapter in 46 LDCs to support the development of a zero emissions Tourism Community that operates using Clean and Green principles at its heart.
Building Climate Friendly Travel Communities
We created SUNx Malta as a global centre of Climate Friendly Travel – linking Paris 1.5 and relevant SDGs. Collaborating with the Institute of Tourism Studies, Malta (ITS) we launched a world first postgraduate Diploma in Climate Friendly Travel. On graduating our students become Chapter Leaders – advocate for Climate Friendly Travel in their country.
What Does the Country Climate Friendly Chapter Do?

Community of Champions
- Build a growing community of like minded individuals who are networked across the LDC + world.

CFT Project
- Identify and develop a locally initiated project. This could be solar electrification of villages, water sanitation, waste reduction, or any number of other areas related to increasing the Sustainability of Tourism in the country.
