The 2nd Strong Earth Youth Summit was held on April 29^th – the key elements were:-

Convened by SUNx Malta with Institute of Tourism Studies Malta, Les Roches, Earth Charter Institute, European Centre For Peace & Development and China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation with 140 registrants and 18 guest speakers including students from the SUNx Malta CFT Diploma.

Rekindling the Sustainability and Climate Activism of the late Maurice Strong, from half a century ago. highlighting the immense contribution that Strong made to the foundations of today’s Global Climate and Sustainability “Code Red” Agenda.

Underscoring the existential nature of the Climate Crisis, the current dangerous emissions trajectory, and the imperative to start reductions now to reach the Paris targets. Emphasizing special challenges for aviation and the need for a “Moonshot” approach for zero GHG aviation 2050.

Stressing Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) – low carbon: SDG linked: Paris 1.5 as an important sector response system, the UNFCCC linked CFT Registry for 2050 Sustainability and Climate Plans, and Strong Climate Champions for company and community support.

Recognizing communities  and corporations as trailblazers of Climate Response.

Underscoring the pivotal importance of future generations in Climate response and the need to revamp education systems for focus.

Launching by Les Roches Hospitality and SUNx Malta of the 2^nd Strong Earth Awards of 500 Euros for the 10 best policy papers written by students on the increasing relevance of the Earth Charter.
