• We are in the midst of a world war on the Climate Crisis …with every crazy unpredictable Wildfire, Hurricane, Flood, Drought, Heatwave, Glacial melt, or Sea level rise.  And the hundreds of thousands of Climate refugees they create. The challenge we all face – highlighted at Annual Climate COPs like the 28th just completed in UAE - wherever we are on the planet - is how to simultaneously respond to the worsening, extreme weather reality and to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to hit Paris 1.5 by 2050.

  And this against the backdrop of the last IPCC Report that says no country is anywhere near the reductions it has committed to and calling for emissions to peak in 2025 to get anywhere close to Paris 1.5 a quarter of a century later. Plus, a new TPCC (Tourism Panel on Climate Change), that makes it very clear that Tourism is in the same boat. 

  BAU is not an option. We must go further faster. We need Champions for Change.

  At SUNx we think we can help. And today we are taking the first step in launching our Bali Climate Friendly Travel Chapter.  Built with the eco-tourism society and led by our Strong Climate Champions, trained in our diploma course with ITS Malta and embodying the planetary, nature positive spirit of our mentor and co-founder the late Maurice Strong.

  We are particularly grateful for strong leadership from Suzy Hutomo & Rahmi Fajar Harini. Our chapter leaders will recruit like-minded colleagues and reach out to the tourism industry to join our free Climate FriendlyTravel Registry and to help them develop Climate Action Plans to respond to the many operational dimensions of the Climate Crisis - with an overriding immediate focus on the looming extreme weather threat.  

  They will also provide a base for a Climate Friendly Travel Plan B that will allow Bali to respond to Paris 1.5 imperatives, address relevant SDG's - sustainable development goals - and deliver nature positive, top class tourism products. And doing it on a base of your Tri Hita Karana culture, linking nature and humanity and spirituality.

  To advance these Climate resilience programs, our new SUNx Bali Chapter will be hosting workshops, providing educational and social media materials, as well as reaching out into village communities to strengthen the buy in. 

  We look forward to working with you in the pivotal years ahead to bring Climate Friendly Travel growth here to Bali. For our part we commit to make this a primary global focal point in a better world that we will help to create together, for our kids.
