Choosing SunX Malta's Diploma of Climate-Friendly Travel has been a transformative experience. Join me in exploring the world responsibly while leaving a positive impact on our planet.
The Climate-Friendly Travel course is the only one of its kind to dive into the intersection between climate change and tourism. One of the highlights of the course, is having the opportunity to meet other tourism professionals from islands and developing countries and gain valuable insights and solutions for the challenges we are all facing. Besides building a community of like-minded professionals, I learned about the history of sustainable development and scientific studies on the causes and impacts of climate change from tourism. As we advance, I see this course and the community we are building as the beginning of a movement led by changemakers in places at the frontlines of climate change and economically most dependent on the tourism industry for our livelihoods.
Studying the Diploma in Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) has been a transformative experience, focusing on the critical area of sustainable tourism practices. As a Solomon Islander, I have deepened my understanding of the vulnerabilities faced by our country due to climate change and its significant impact on the tourism industry. This program has not only broadened my perspective but also equipped me with the knowledge and skills needed to address these challenges effectively. With this CFT program i’m honored to win the Strong Earth Award 2024 which is a testament to my dedication and passion towards promoting climate-friendly travel initiatives. I am truly honored to represent the Solomon Islands as an ambassador on this program and I hope to work towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our communities.
The CFT Diploma has been a fulfilling experience of learning about the practical relevance and need for CFT in our global society, paired with knowledge exchange and networking opportunities with likeminded international climate champions from SIDS and LDCs. What I particularly enjoyed was the insights and support from so many renown professionals in the field, which created a sense of community and motivation to get hands on with my CFT project in my country.
Studying climate-friendly tourism amidst Haiti's social and political challenges has been eye-opening. This course not only equips us with vital knowledge but also empowers us to make a positive impact in our community and beyond. I'm proud to be a climate champion and advocate, ready to train and empower other champions in Haiti.
As a Hotelier, the CFT program has been an eye opener and one that I would recommend for all hoteliers to take. The personal connections with my fellow international classmates and program administrators has been a massive bonus in making this a highly recommended program. I am excited about the endless possibilities that I have to shape a safer and more sustainable future in the tourism industry that can positively contribute to a greener tomorrow.
